Mary Oliver – Poet
April is National Poetry Month. I’ve been celebrating by reading a few poetry collections. About a year and a half ago a friend introduced me to Mary Oliver’s poetry. Recently, her newest book, Felicity, arrived at the library. My favorite lines in this book are from a poem titled “Whistling Swans.”
Do you bow your head when you pray or do you look
up into that blue space?
Take your choice, prayers fly from all directions.
I’m learning poetry should be read frequently. That’s why from now on I’ll have a book of poetry at my beside table. Ron Rash’s latest collection is there now. Expect to hear favorites from his book soon.
